The Child Support Agency is responsible for assessing your child support obligations. They consider factors such as:
- each parent’s income;
- the number of children; and
- their living arrangements.
Some parents choose to enter into a private child support agreement which can be more, less or of a different character than an assessment determined by the Child Support Agency. Agreements can either be unregistered, or registered with the Child Support Agency. These private agreements may include expenses such as medical costs, extracurricular activities of private school fees.
At CSD Law, our team of family lawyers can help you understand your child support obligations and advise you whether court proceedings should be commenced to alter the amount of child support payable. We are also able to assist with any necessary proceedings with respect to proof of parentage.
