Mediation & Family Dispute Resolution

Mediation

Attending mediation allows you and your former partner the opportunity to resolve your disputes respectively, peacefully and privately. It is an informal and voluntary process which allows you to explore your family law issues, develop options and reach a mutual agreement. It also provides a framework for resolving any potential family law issues that may arise in the future. There are a number of benefits associated with attending mediation, including both you and your former spouse taking responsibility for your family law issues and working together towards achieving a positive and mutually beneficial outcome.

The solicitors at CSD Law have the skill and experience you need to assist you in preparing for, appearing at and drafting documentation post mediation.

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

The FDR process provides a platform for people who are in conflict to be supported in communications with each other about what is important for them and how to make decisions relevant to resolving their family dispute. An FDR Certificate is required in order to make an application to the court for a parenting order. The certificate confirms that a genuine attempt at FDR was made. FDR is cost effective, promotes co-operation and communication, maintains each party’s control in the decision-making process, and is less stressful and time consuming that court proceedings.

If you would like to find out more about FDR and if it is right for you, get in contact with the family law team at CSD Law today.
