Probate and Letters of Administration
A grant of probate is an order from the Supreme Court that authenticates a Will and authorises the executor to distribute the estate. Ordinarily, a grant of probate is required before assets of a deceased person can be distributed according to the will.
In circumstances where a person is deceased and they did not enliven a Will, then the Supreme Court will issue letters of administration. The Court will also do this if the Executors appointed by your Will are unable to act.
